Precinct Organizing Support Sought
My county's Precinct Organizing Committee is planning a "train the trainers" session in July. I'm working with a couple of folks to track down good hands-on materials, as resources for role-playing canvassing and telephone conversations. Basic guidelines would be welcome, too.
Of course, we expect to tweak what we can find, but I figured why not see what's out there first anyway? If you have links or copy to suggest, either supply them in a comment or send me a Kosmail. Thanks!
Motor City Kossacks meet-up: Rivera/Kahlo exhibit, DIA, Sunday 6/7, 1:30 PM
The next Motor City Kossacks' meet-up at the Detroit Institute of Arts to see the Diego Rivera/Frida Kahlo exhibit is a GO! We're set for Sunday, June 7th, at 1:30. I bought tickets yesterday for these Kossacks:
1. 2thanks
2. DoReMI
3. gregsullmich
4. & 5. mideedah and friend
6. new Kossack
7. & 8. peregrine kate and ProvokingMeaning
Thanks to everyone for getting your payment to me in advance; it really helps the summer cash flow.
It is (probably) not too late! Anyone else who wants to join us would be welcome. Please reply to that effect in the comments, or send me a Kosmail. If bought in person, the tix are $19 each. Add a $3 surcharge if buying them online.
Motor City Kossacks Community Service?
Our county Democratic party will soon be taking part in some community service activities, in part to support the efforts themselves but in part to increase party visibility. Would there be any interest among Motor City Kossacks to do the same for a project in the city of Detroit? Gordon20024 has suggested that we reach out to the Motor City Blight Busters to see how we could get involved. They're a fine group doing good work, as far as I know. But I'd like to be able to tell them how many person-hours we could offer before I contact them. Please let us know what you think.
Thank you, ezioaltair12!
Many thanks to ezioaltair12 for his diary last week. His questions were good ones, and I hope we will revisit them often and soon. We LOVE having other Kossacks write for these Open Thread diaries; please feel free to claim a Wednesday night spot. Just let me know when you'd like to have one.
As always, this is an Open Thread about all things Michigan. The floor is yours!
